Ethical issues and ethical shopping – what can we do?
There are numerous ethical issues relating to animal welfare, around the production of food, fashion, homeware or cosmetics. Ethical shopping is one way that you can get involved and take decisive action. Making sure you only buy from producers who care about animal welfare, shunning products that are produced on the back of animal suffering, is a powerful movement that can have a real impact on producers.
The RSPCA is raising awareness of ethical issues in lots of different areas. We’re successfully campaigning for better conditions for farm animals and improved labelling standards to make ethical shopping in supermarkets much easier. Just look for the Freedom Food label.
We run Good Business Awards for food and fashion,, which acknowledge the companies at the forefront of animal welfare, and our science teams work to investigate animal welfare and ethical issues.
If you’re into ethical living, get into ethical shopping. Become a good consumer and vote with your feet – or your fingers – every time you hit the shops or buy online.
