Animal charities and agencies unite for new 'dangerous' dog laws.
March 2010
Sign the petition for new laws to tackle irresponsible dog ownership
Updated 15th November
Dog charities, vets, unions and the police have joined forces for the first time ever to tell the government in Westminster: Clean up this dog mess!
The 20 organisations, which includes Dogs Trust, the Kennel Club, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, the Police Federation and the Royal Mail Group, are urging the government in Westminster to put new laws into the Queen’s Speech 2012 which will:
- Ensure dog owners take responsibility for their pet's behaviour
- improve public safety and animal welfare
- Require micro-chipping for all dogs
- Increase education and engagement to prevent problems
The range of measures suggested, we believe, will help protect people and the dogs they come into contact with –and could save the country around £75 million a year in health costs and prevention.
Petition
If 100,000 people sign the petition on the Prime Minister’s official website, it could spark a debate in the House of Commons. And please, share this with your friends!
